Karachi Port’s Global Connectivity Index hits new record

KARACHI: Karachi Port is charting new territory in global maritime trade, with its Port Liner Shipping Connectivity Index (PLSCI) surging to a record 356.8 in the third quarter of 2026.

The figure surpasses the previous record of 343 recorded in Q2 2026, marking back-to-back growth for the port.

According to Karachi Port Trust, the improvement is not coincidental but reflects upgraded infrastructure, sharper operational efficiency and rising demand for mainline transshipment on central international shipping routes.

The sustained rise in PLSCI has further strengthened Karachi Port’s global connectivity and its position as a key hub in international maritime trade, building on the historic achievement recorded earlier this year.

The port administration termed the development as a sign of growing confidence of global shipping lines in Karachi Port’s capacity and operations.
