Pakistan First Furniture Trade Show draws crowd at Karachi Expo Centre
KARACHI (Staff Report): The second edition of Pakistan First Furniture Trade Show concluded Sunday at Expo Centre Karachi after three days of heavy public turnout, with organizers reporting over 50% discounts driving sales of wedding and household furniture.
The show, held from Oct 30 to Nov 1 in Hall No. 4, brought together leading manufacturers from across Pakistan. Bedroom sets, sofa sets, dining tables and wedding furniture were displayed with discounted rates.
The closing ceremony was attended by Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Talat Mehmood and Businessmen Group Chairman Zubair Motiwala as chief guests.
Mehmood said Pakistan’s furniture industry has strong potential to contribute to economic growth if supported with modern manufacturing and better market access.
“Trade exhibitions of this nature provide valuable opportunities for manufacturers and traders to establish new connections and expand operations,” he said, adding that growth in the sector would generate employment.
Motiwala said Pakistani furniture has the craftsmanship and design quality to compete internationally but needs better branding, technology and marketing to increase exports. He called for support for small and medium manufacturers and greater investment in the sector.
All Pakistan Furniture Association Central President Rana Waheed said the industry employs thousands of skilled workers and craftsmen, and its growth is directly linked to their economic welfare.
He said the association would continue to organize such events to connect manufacturers directly with buyers and promote local industry.
Horizon Events CEO Rashid Ansari, whose company organized the show, said public response was encouraging and announced plans for a larger third edition.
“The enthusiasm demonstrated by the people of Karachi was highly encouraging. Our objective is to allow the public to purchase quality furniture at affordable prices under one roof while helping local manufacturers access new markets,” Ansari said.
The event was sponsored by The Roshaan’s and media partnered by Media Hub (Pvt.) Ltd.
