TDAP launches trade database covering 95 countries to boost exports

KARACHI (Staff Report): The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) have jointly launched the Preferential Trade Access Database (PTAD) at FPCCI Head Office, Federation House, Karachi, on Wednesday to boost Pakistan’s global export footprint.

The launch was hosted by FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh and TDAP officials, marking what both institutions described as an institutional milestone in global market access.

According to officials, the PTAD is a landmark initiative designed to provide comprehensive information on Pakistan’s preferential market access worldwide. The platform directly empowers local exporters, importers, manufacturers and international buyers with actionable trade intelligence to drive export growth.

Briefing stakeholders during the inaugural session, FPCCI Senior Vice President Saquib Fayyaz Magoon said the database delivers structured access intelligence covering 29 Preferential Trade Arrangements and maps markets for opportunity across 95 countries.

He said the database details tariff advantages, Rules of Origin and documentation requirements to provide clarity for export decisions and practical guidance for compliance. Users can conduct product searches by HS Code or product description to find relevant access pathways.

The platform also includes updated insights on the Pakistan-Uzbekistan PTA expansion, which is expected to bring new momentum to regional trade.

Speaking on the occasion, DG TDAP Abdul Karim Memon stressed that for too long, Pakistani exporters and manufacturers have underutilized existing trade agreements simply due to a lack of consolidated information.

“By mapping 29 Preferential Trade Arrangements across 95 countries into a single platform, we are empowering our business community to maximize tariff advantages and drive sustainable export growth,” he said.

Memon said TDAP’s core mission was connecting Pakistan to opportunity, and the joint initiative with FPCCI puts vital market intelligence directly into the hands of exporters and manufacturers. He added that bridging the information gap would streamline export decision-making, enhance regulatory compliance and help Pakistani products compete more effectively across international markets.

FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh maintained that PTAD would help the business community understand complex trade regulations and connect Pakistan to global opportunities.

The FPCCI said with PTAD, exporters can effortlessly search products, understand Rules of Origin and meet documentation requirements.

The event concluded with a shared commitment from both FPCCI and TDAP to continue advancing their joint vision of trade intelligence, market access and export growth.
