Third straight decline: PSX loses 495 points

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange ended in the red for the third consecutive day on Thursday as selling pressure persisted across sectors.

The benchmark KSE-100 Index declined 495 points to close at 175,548. During the session, the index hit an intra-day high of 176,234 and a low of 174,612.

The total trading volume stood at 711.2 million shares worth Rs25.40 billion.

Of the 563 companies traded, 279 closed lower, 175 advanced and 109 remained unchanged.

Market analyst Jibran Sarfraz said investor sentiment remained cautious amid regional geopolitical concerns and profit-taking after recent gains.

Analysts noted that despite the decline, the index held above the 174,600 support level. They expect the market to take direction from foreign flows and developments on the economic front in the coming sessions.
