ABAD demands action over 38 missing files at SBCA

KARACHI (Staff Report): The Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD) has demanded that those responsible for the disappearance of 38 builders’ and developers’ files at the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) be identified and legal action be taken against them.

The demand was made on Tuesday during a meeting of an ABAD delegation led by Chairman Muhammad Hanif Gohar with SBCA Director General Waseem Shamshad. The delegation included Senior Vice Chairman Danish bin Rauf and Vice Chairman Syed Khursheed Alam.

ABAD Chairman said the disappearance of official documents is a serious matter that causes difficulties for construction projects and stakeholders. He stressed that action must be taken in accordance with the law to prevent such incidents in the future.

Gohar also called for removal of bureaucratic hurdles facing the construction sector and urged that the approval process for building plans and other projects be made faster, transparent and effective to avoid unnecessary delays for builders and developers.

The delegation also proposed simplifying the procedure for obtaining height clearance NOCs by introducing an online application submission and tracking system to save applicants from repeated office visits and ensure transparency.

ABAD further proposed appointing a focal person at SBCA to address queries, complaints and guidance needs of ABAD members on a priority basis to help resolve issues in building plan approvals.
