Fishermen protest against corruption, demand welfare for orphans

KARACHI: The Fishermen Sujag Forum held a protest outside the Fishermen Cooperative Society Office, on Friday.

Chairman Muhammad Bux Jat, along with Masi Sakina Mallah and Ichar Mallah, said the protest is for the rights of poor fishermen.

They demanded an end to alleged corruption in the Cooperative Society, establishment of a welfare system for orphans of fishermen, and provision of jobs to members’ children.

They urged authorities to grant members their due rights in accordance with the approved bylaws of the Fishermen Cooperative Society.

A large number of fishermen, women and children participated in the protest.
