PSX closes bullish for fourth consecutive day, volumes double
KARACHI (Staff Report) The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) closed on a positive note for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday, buoyed by a decline in international crude oil prices and positive corporate earnings.
The benchmark KSE-100 Index gained 1,457 points to close at 167,193 level, marking strong investor confidence.
Market activity saw a significant surge, with daily trading volume doubling compared to the previous session. A total of 816.8 million shares worth Rs. 31.54 billion were traded during the day, against 402 million shares traded yesterday.
Out of 570 companies that participated in trading, share prices of 232 companies increased, 232 companies decreased — indicating a mixed but bullish sentiment driven by heavyweights.
Analysts said that falling crude oil prices eased concerns over inflation and import bill, while better-than-expected financial results from listed companies attracted fresh buying, particularly in energy, banking and cement sectors.
