SBP issues revised instructions for export of sugar, includes KPK mills
KARACHI (Staff Report): The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has issued revised instructions regarding the export of 200,000 metric tonnes of sugar, allowing authorized dealers to also process export transactions of eligible sugar mills located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
According to EPD Circular Letter No. 16 dated October 28, 2026, the SBP drew the attention of Authorized Dealers in Foreign Exchange to its earlier EPD Circular Letter No. 15 dated October 13, 2026, on the same subject.
The circular states that the Ministry of National Food Security & Research has confirmed that the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has endorsed the quota of KPK sugar mills. The details of quota allocation have already been conveyed to Authorized Dealers.
Accordingly, Authorized Dealers may also process export transactions of eligible sugar mills located in KPK against their respective quotas, subject to the terms and conditions stipulated in EPD Circular Letter No. 15 dated October 13, 2026, and the relevant instructions contained in MNFSR’s Office Memorandum dated October 09, 2026.
The SBP clarified that all other instructions contained in the above-referred circular letter shall remain unchanged and advised Authorized Dealers to ensure meticulous compliance with the instructions.
