Mari Energies Issues Letter of Award for Purchase of Gas from Spinwam Discovery

KARACHI: Mari Energies Limited has issued a Letter of Award for the sale of gas from its Spinwam discovery and informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange in a notice on Monday.

Under the agreement, Universal Gas Distribution Company (Pvt) Ltd. will receive 17.5 million standard cubic feet of gas per day from the new find.

According to the company’s letter, the Spinwam gas discovery is located in the Waziristan Block in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Mari Energies is the operator of the block with a 55% working interest. Oil and Gas Development Company Limited and Orient Petroleum Inc. hold 35% and 10% stakes respectively.

Mari Energies said the sale agreement is subject to obtaining regulatory and other necessary approvals. The bidding process for the gas was completed following an advertisement issued on May 15, 2026.

The development is expected to add to domestic gas supplies amid the country’s ongoing energy shortfall.
